Wow, I am filled with so much accomplishment. Today, I did something that I never would have done in the years or even months before.
Today was Fitness on the Rocks at Red Rocks Colorado! This is a day of total fitness for whoever comes out to bear the heat, intensity, and high elevation of 6,400 feet!
I have to be honest, there was some nervous energy before hand. A meditation and visualization assisted last night and this morning.
One thing that really puts me at ease is having my fitness body Dana with me. Anytime we work out together, I feel good. Just having her presence makes me push a little harder. By the way, she is the one who has introduced fitness to me and helped me lose 24 lbs. so far.
Two workouts were ahead of me today and I was to face them square on (but also listening to my body per say- for all those lazy people like me). We first find a spot on the steps, now if you’ve never been to Red Rocks there are 69 rows and big rows at that. Second- stretch and warm up to lunges, push ups, planks, crunches and so much more. This goes on for an hour and I have to say-I Loved It. Looking out into mother nature and beautiful Colorado was breath taking or what was that the altitude? The music hit the spot with a live DJ, reminded me of other concerts there at Red Rocks and fitness was the farthest thing from my mind.
Anyways enough about those times…
After we have officially got our sweat on we climb the stairs to await Turbo Kick. Checked out the sponsors, sampled a bunch of gross energy drinks and such and then waited.
Our second workout for the day is drum role please… Turbo Kick with JD! Now I feel the need to explain Turbo Kick- its kickboxing meets dance meets very high energy. Myself and about 200 people start this high impact, intense workout. “Going good, going good, I can keep up and keep up fairly well I might add.” As the hour pushed a stream of people trickle out of the workout, “Ok now I’ve lasted 30 minutes, I can push to the hour” and I did!
We ended our day with a Coors Light and called it GOOD!
All joking aside- this was one for the record books and I’ll be ready for next year!
